RIP Satoshi Kon, Director of “Paprika” and “Paranoia Agent”

24 Aug 2010

We’re shocked and saddened to hear that several hours ago, representatives from the Madhouse anime studio confirmed anime legend Satoshi Kon has died. At 47, he has been responsible for mindboggling works such as Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and most recently, Paprika — which director Christopher Nolan admitted helped inspire his own Inception. Rest in peace, Mr. Kon.

Prior to his unexpected death, Kon had been working on his upcoming film The Dream Machine, apparently continuing his fascination with dreams. The status of the movie is uncertain.
