The 2010 Academy Awards Roundup: 11 Favorite Tweets on the Oscars

8 Mar 2010

Kathryn Bigelow is Queen of the World. After the 2010 Academy Awards ceremony, James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino — two of the likely Best Picture favorites — are writhing in their own hurt lockers. Bigelow gave her ex-husband Cameron the one-two punch last night after taking both Best Director and Best Picture for her incredible war film The Hurt Locker, marking her the first female director to ever win an Academy Award.

For Cameron, it should be okay. He already has one undeserved Oscar and $2.5-billion dollars in Avatar profits to go home and roll around in. And despite the movie’s worn out plot, it was nonetheless lauded for its astounding visuals, as it should be.

But poor Quentin. I was immensely bummed to see that Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds had been snubbed for the Best Adapted Screenplay award, a category in which Hurt Locker screenwriter Mark Boal emerged as victor.

So without further ado, click on to see my top 11 favorite tweets from the Oscars — many by drunken film bloggers. P.S. In my utopian dreamworld, A Serious Man should have been recognized. Some way, somehow.
