Watch HBO’s Pilot of “How To Make It In America” (While I Go On Break)

18 Feb 2010

Hi all — I know I said I’d be updating at a regular rate. Sadly, school has gotten the better of me. Hopefully expect all the goodness to be back either Saturday or Sunday.

Until then, the YouTube-released pilot of How To Make It In America I’ve posted below should hold you in your seat. The new comedy series premiered on HBO this past Valentine’s Day. I’ve taken a fleeting glance — it looks like a hipster, savvier version of Entourage set in New York. Which smells like disaster, really. But hey, Kid Cudi stars in it. And reviews by both viewers and critics have apparently been boisterously positive. So, I might give it a go. And stop starting my sentences with conjunctions. Expect a review soon.

For now though, suck on the milky tit of the show summary and its pilot episode below:

Follows two enterprising twentysomethings hustling their way through New York City’s fashion scene, determined to achieve their version of the American Dream. Trying to make a name for themselves in the city’s competitive fashion scene, Ben Epstein and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon use their street knowledge and connections to make their way up. With the help of their well-connected friend Domingo and Cam’s cousin Rene, who has ambitions of his own—a new energy drink called Rasta-Monsta—the burgeoning entrepreneurs set out to make it big.
