GUINNESS AS USUAL

4 Oct 2009

Really sorry I haven’t been posting. Do you feel the honesty of my words?

Anyway, I’m amending that mistake now. So I’m in Ireland for the fall semester, and it’s been a fucking ball. Studying English here was a great decision. The pubs (Anseo and The Stag’s Head, if anyone wants recommendations), the sweet museums (bog bodies at the History Museum, Jack Yeats at the National Gallery, WB Yeats at the National Library, the Guinness Storehouse…which pretty much is an interactive museum…of beer), and the classes are all great times.

Also, the Guinness here tastes like godwater. Another also: I picked up cooking because everything here costs thousands of euros. So that’s nice. The gal is impressed.

I’m ending with a quote, fittingly, from James Joyce:

“One by one they were all becoming shades. Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.” — “The Dead”, Dubliners
